Watch the YouTube Video Tutorial to learn how to get a verse-a-day sent to your cell phone as a text message.
You probably know that a great many people use Social Media to send out updates about the Bible. There are Facebook, GooglePlus, Twitter and other sites devoted to updates about the Bible.
Here are a few of the best Twitter accounts that are used to send out updates from the Bible. These accounts generally provide a verse each day or sometimes a steady stream of scripture via a Twitter account.
The Bible Verse Twitter List, "Bible Tweeters" is here: https://twitter.com/kjvbible/lists/bible-tweeters
To get the most of these, you should follow your favorite account and have Twitter send you updates to your mobile device. This way, you can set up Twitter to send you a text message each time a Bible Verse is posted.
This method for getting a verse-a-day works like this:
A) Set up a Twitter account of your own. Follow someone like @KJVBible
B) Turn on the mobile device feature so that your mobile phone is linked to Twitter.
C) Follow a Twitter account that posts a Bible Verse each day.
D) Turn on the feature that allows you to receive each tweet on your cell phone.
E) Receive the tweets from this account(s) on your mobile phone.
You can actually sign up and use Twitter right from a text message. Here's how.
You can even "fast follow" a twitter account without having to sign up for Twitter yourself by following these steps: On a US cell phone, such as AT&T mobile phone, send the following TEXT MESSAGE to the number 40404 ...
follow KJVBible
40404 is a special number owned by Twitter. When you send the text message "follow KJVBible" to this special cell address, it will automatically send you updates each time the account, KJVBible posts a tweet or Bible verse. To turn it off, simply send another message to 40404, this time:
stop
This will turn off the feature and you will no longer receive updates on your cell phone. Remember that if you use the SMS/texting feature, your phone may be charged for the text messages based on your cellular plan.
